What We're Looking For

  • A composer with experience or interest in creating music for dance, particularly in environments where accessibility matters.
  • Someone who can collaborate with performers to integrate visual, spatial, and sensory considerations.
  • An ability to adapt compositions so they work well for both trained dancers and audience members with sensory or mobility differences.

Why This Matters

Art and performance should be for everyone. This project aims to set a higher standard for genuine accessibility. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience and participate in the arts, regardless of their abilities or circumstances.

How to Apply

If you're ready to compose something meaningful, share your portfolio and approach to accessible composition. We're looking for creative minds who understand that great art is inclusive art. Please send your application with examples of your work and a brief statement about your approach to accessible performance.

There's always additional preparation required for an any event for disabled people. My planning started two weeks ahead of the match when I emailed Crystal Palace to ask about parking, as I drive from my wheelchair, and with the tailgate being my entry/exit point street parking was nigh on impossible. The only response I got was to 'try Sainsburys' although there's a 4 hour limit on match days. So.. We arrived and duly parked. Before the game we spent some time in the Prince George Pub. Very friendly staff. Access to Selhurst Park via the Arthur Thwaite stand is well signposted for both visiting and home disabled fans. Once inside you will find yourself already halfway up (or down) the stand which provides a good view of the pitch for wheelchair users. There are a couple of bays where you can watch, and thePalace stewards were extremely helpful in allowing me to sit with both my daughter and her boyfriend. The seats in front of the bays were low enough to allow for a good view even when those in front were standing. Not as good as Brighton but much better than Charlton. We were also welcomed by a steward who checked we had everything we needed. There was an accessible loo as you'd expect.
